Intensive English Language Program
The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) is designed for students who wish to improve their English language skills for academic and professional reasons. Classes are communicative, integrating all language skills, and are taught at seven levels, from basic to advanced.
IELP classes are offered in eight-week sessions throughout the year. Core classes of Listening/Speaking and Reading/Writing are offered at all seven levels. IELP students also take elective classes such as Business English, Academic Vocabulary, American Film, Grammar, and English for Science and Engineering. In addition to eight-week sessions, IELP offers four-week sessions throughout the year and short-term custom ESP programs during the summer. IELP additionally offers online classes that are live, interactive, and supported by cultural, language, academic, and social activities.
IELP offers an Academic and Language Skills Boot Camp designed exclusively for International Students who have been accepted to the University at Albany. The goal of the Boot Camp is to provide students with key skills that will promote success in university study for a broad range of academic majors. The Boot Camp workshops help students gain the confidence needed for academic success.
