College of Arts and Sciences 25th Anniversary Celebration Melanie Wallace Senior Series Producer for NOVA Melanie Wallace, an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning filmmaker, will be the featured speaker during a University at Albany's College of Arts and Sciences 25th Anniversary celebration event at 7 p.m. Monday, October 22, in the University at Albany Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, 1400 Washington Avenue, Albany. Wallace's talk is titled “History, Science, and Truth in the 21st Century," Earlier that same day, Wallace will hold a more informal discussion at 4:15 p.m. in the Standish Room, Science Library, also on the uptown campus. Wallace is the Senior Series Producer of NOVA, the most-watched and longest-running prime time science series on American television. Now in its 45th year, NOVA features an extraordinary diversity of topics, from the latest breakthroughs in technology to the deepest mysteries of the natural world. In her role, Wallace seeks out new talent, innovative program ideas, and new co-production opportunities and is the driving force behind deals brokered between NOVA and such international partners as the BBC, ARTE, ABC Australia, NHK, and CCTV. She also serves as an ambassador, traveling worldwide to promote the NOVA brand and to highlight the role NOVA plays in advancing science literacy. Presented by the University at Albany College of Arts and Sciences in association with the NYS Writers Institute.
