Charles Duhigg EVENT DETAILS: PROFILE Duhigg’s book The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business (2012), about the science of habit formation, spent over 60 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. The New York Times Book Review called the book “Entertaining…enjoyable…fascinating…a serious look at the science of habit formation and change.” The Financial Times said “Few [books] become essential manuals for business and living. The Power of Habit is an exception. Charles Duhigg not only explains how habits are formed but how to kick bad ones and hang on to the good.” In his new book, Smarter, Faster, Better: The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business (2016), Duhigg explores the science of productivity, and why, in today’s world, managing how you think – rather than what you think about – can transform your life. Kirkus Review described the book as “revealing, brightly written … Duhigg shows an uncanny ability to find just the right exciting example of productivity-boosting methods, leaving readers to nod in recognition that they might act in the same way to improve their lives and work.” Duhigg has received a number of awards, including the George Polk Award, The Scripps Howard National Journalism Award, a Loeb Award, the Investigative Reporters and Editors’ Medal, the National Academies’ reporting award, the investigative reporting award from the Society of Environmental Journalists, and the 2009 Science in Society Journalism Award. A graduate of Harvard Business School, Duhigg is a frequent commentator on television and radio including PBS NewsHour, Frontline, Dr. Oz, This American Life, and on various programs on CNBC and NPR.
