New faculty member Nick and wife, Honey, visit the home of History professor George and wife, Martha. Ordinary chitchat quickly evolves into a verbal battle between George and Martha, who compete to wound and embarrass each other as much as possible. The film, which received five Oscars, was adapted by Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
