SCOPE:
Alfonso X, 1221-1284, ruled Castille and Leon
1252-1284 and was a leading fugure in the Thirteenth Century Renaissance. His writings ranged from poetry to history to science. His compositions and those he sponsored and encouraged had a major impact on the development of the Spanish language.
This compilation of works by Alfonso X or produced in the royal scriptorium is "essentiall a 'spin-off' publication of the fforts to create the Dictionary of the Old Spanis Languages and includes the "larges body of Old Spanis lexical material ever compiled."
