SCOPE:
El Grito de Lares (the Cry of Lares) was one of
several attempts by the natives of Puerto Rico to overthrow the Spanish rulers. Centered in the small mountain town of Lares, the 1868 rebellion was quickly suppressed.
The National Archives has made available the file on the rebellion of Lares from the records of the Spanish governors of Puerto Rico.
