SCOPE:
The British equivalent to the Congressional Record. Named after its first printer, Luke Hansard and Sons, this is a record of Parliamentary debates since the Norman Conquest. Until 1909, however, it is not a verbatim transcription. William Cobbett's Parliamentary History, 1066-1803 forms the first part of the set; he compiled this from old record, Parliamentary rolls, and the material of other historian. From 1803-1908 Hansard's was based on contemporary records; it became the official record of 1909.
