Description

Iroquois Indians: A Documentary. History of the Diplomacy of the Six Nations and Their League. Jennings, Francis. Woodbridge, CN: Research Publications, 1985.

MIC FLM E 99 I7 1735X 1984 50 reels. 35mm.

SCOPE:

Documents in the collection span a period from the earliest surviving sixteenth-century texts throughout the year 1842. They include formal meetings, and a broad range of background materials useful for interpreting motives, procedures, and effects. Selection was based on the relevance to the diplomatic history of the Iroquois nations.

Most of the documents are manuscript or printed   texts arranged in chronological order. Tests in languages other than English are presented but only rarely translated. Photographs of wampum belts included.  Published for the D'Arcy McNickle Center for the History of the American Indian at the Newberry Library.
