SCOPE:
On August 24, 1965 California Governor Edmund Brown appointed a commission to investigate the causes of the Los Angeles Riots and to make recommendations to prevent future outbreaks. The commission gathered testimony from " administrators, law enforcement officers, [state, county and city officials], representatives of business labor, and residents of the area where the riots occurred." This testimony is reproduced here.
