Joshua Smith graduate from the University at Albany, SUNY with a doctorate degree in Educational Psychology and Methodology. He served as Director of Outcomes Assessment at the University at Albany for two years before accepting a position as an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and Associate Director in the Center for Urban and Multicultural Education in the School of Education. He came to IUPUI from the University at Albany where he earned a Doctorate in Educational Psychology and Methodology and served as Director of Assessment for two year. At IUPUI, he offers courses in Educational Psychology in the Teacher Education Program and graduate courses in qualitative and quantitative research methods. Since coming to IUPUI two years ago he has published 10 peer-reviewed publications and delivered several national and international peer- presentations on student transition from middle school to high school, and the transition from high school to college. Dr. Smith currently coordinates 8 program evaluations in the Indianapolis region using collaborative research as a model for change in P-16 and community based organization. He is an active member of the Critical Demography Project, recently publishing a paper in the Journal of Nursing Education employing critical demography as the theorectical base for the inquiry. In terms of professional service, Dr. Smith is a reviewer for several education journals, an active member of the American Educational Research Association, Research Chair for the National Academic Advising Association and serves as the Vice Chair on the Program Review and Assessment Committee at IUPUI.
