Alumni January Newsletter In this issue: * Classmate Reunion After 70 Years! * Sad News CLASSMATE REUNION AFTER 70 YEARS! From Leila BERKOWITZ Schwartz, '50: "I will try to write an article about Bert SACKMAN’s and my reunion after living our separate lives for 70 years with no contact at all. It is a fact that my son has his home in Calabasas, CA, not far from where Bert lives in Studio City, CA. Bert found me on Facebook, and we corresponded for a short time, filling in all the pieces of our past lives. A short time ago, I informed Bert that my son was planning a party for me to celebrate my 90th birthday. I thought it would be a nice idea to invite Bert to share in the celebration. Two days before the party, I was invited to Bert’s elegant condo to renew our childhood friendship. He prepared a special meal, and we easily shared many of the details of our past lives. Thank you, Bert, for the incredible birthday present! May our friendship last for a very long time!" According to a Facebook post on December 16th by Bert, "Yesterday, fellow Milnite Leila Schwartz, '50, and I, '51, renewed a friendship after more than 70 years. We spent the afternoon and evening reminiscing and catching up. Our dinner included this bowl of stir-fried lobster and buckwheat noodles in ginger-scallion sauce. Happy 90th birthday, Leila." I feel compelled to post a photo of Bert's very special dinner. Those of us who are Facebook friends with Bert have a regular opportunity to read about and view his wonderful culinary creations. Linda Lee WYATT, '68, passed away on November 26, 2022. There's an additional article about Linda here. Roger Buckingham, husband of Lynne MILLER Buckingham, '69, passed away on November 26, 2022. Aloha COLEMAN, a member of the Class of '76, passed away on November 17, 2022. James Allen COHEN, '57, passed away December 17, 2022. Dr. Patricia Marie PETERSON, '44, passed away on December 18, 2022. Pat was predeceased by her sister, Ruth PETERSON Murtha, '41. Michael Rubin, husband of Jan ARNOLD, '61, passed away on December 17, 2022, at the age of 78. Peter DRECHSLER, '65, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022. Rabbi Victor HOFFMAN, '57, passed away in early January.
