Milne Alumni May Newsletter Dear Classmates
& Milne Alumni,
In the past month, since the April MAA newsletter, there has been a lot of e-mail correspondence exchanged in effort to get the Milne class years missing at the reunion accounted for. In this effort, I have revised the April 9th reunion attendance list with the names that were not on the original list (below). I also separated the list into class years so you can tell who was there and which class years had the most attendance. There still may be some missing information, but this list will be incorporated into the Milne Student Directory currently in process. If your class year is not represented and you can supply any information to me, it would be appreciated. (Please see the most up-to-date directories by clicking on this link: Directories.) E-mail addresses or other personal information will be kept private except for communication with you or your class organizer to avoid any unsolicited spam or duplication. The MAA is set up to use only e-mail communication, unlike the University's list, which is by regular mail used for Milne-related fundraisings or the sponsored All-Milne reunion. If you do not want to receive any MAA newsletters or other Milne-related e-mails, please let me know at Mary or through your class organizer. There has been recent discussion about the name "Milne Alumni Association." According to the Executive Director of the University Alumni Association, we will not be allowed to use "Association" if we have any connection with them due to conflict with their use of the name. Until the need arises to have a closer relationship with them, we will continue to be the MAA. Suggestions have been made to rename the MAA "The Milne Connection" or "The Milne Alumni Connection" and name the newsletter, "The Milne Times" or have a contest to find a better name to use. Any suggestion you would like to offer will be considered. Separately, there has been some reaction to the University-sponsored April 29th mural and building fundraising letter, and the use of the "Crimson and White" as part of that campaign. If you have any thoughts on these topics, please let me know. Many Milne class years regularly have five-year reunions, and this year, 2005, the classes of 1940, 1945, 1950, 1955, 1960, 1965, 1970, and 1975, (65, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, 35, and 30th) may or may not have a reunion scheduled. If your class is planning a reunion, I would like to hear about it, and if you do not know about your class reunion and are interested in having one, perhaps I can help you get one organized with the information I have at this time. Another All-Milne Reunion is tentatively planned in five years for 2010. In the last newsletter, I proposed committees that would reflect the interests of Milne graduates, and there was some response to the ideas. We have graduates that enjoy traveling, and there have been suggested destinations. We have graduates from different years that live in the same distant cities and states, and it might surprise you to find out how many of us live in Florida, for example. We have many doctors, lawyers, and teachers among us, and perhaps knowing that someone is also a Milne graduate in your profession might be a good connection. When I complete the directory, I plan to spend more time with this committee project, but if in the meantime you are interested, let me know. Thank you for your interest. I
look forward to hearing from you.
