Alumni July Newsletter Dear Milne Alumni and Supporters, In this issue: * Very Exciting News: Digitization Project is Complete! * Good News! * Sad News DIGITIZATION PROJECT IS COMPLETE! Thanks to a recent (fourth!) donation by former faculty member Donald Pruden, we have raised a total of $10,765. Combining that with matching funds from the Marcia Brown Library Fund, our total of over $16,000...will pay for the entire project, which has come in way under the original estimate! Click here for an updated list of donations. I will be sending this donation list to the University, and it will appear here, along with our yearbooks, newspapers, etc. Finally, for a bio of Marcia J. Brown, '40, click here. The University is still updating the text on our digital-collection page, so you will see some minor corrections and updates for a short time. Meanwhile, check out what has been uploaded, and if you are able to provide missing newspapers or yearbooks, please let me know. We will be able to add any missing documents as they are found. Remember, all documents are searchable. Be sure to "bookmark" the above (red) link for future reference. Thanks to everyone who made the completion of this project possible! Alumni will be able to revisit their Milne experiences, and their descendants will have a unique opportunity to learn about their ancestors' high school years. GOOD NEWS! Last month I told you about the photographic work of John Dillon, '53, that's on exhibit at The PhotoCenter of Troy, 404 River Street. The exhibit will continue until July 26th, and if you have an opportunity to stop by, you should do so. My husband and I visited the PhotoCenter on Monday evening, and it was quite a treat to view John's photos. For further information regarding the schedule and location, see the link below. "John Dillon has been one of the region’s foremost photojournalists, although his byline is not usually seen in our area publications. Over the past four decades, Mr. Dillon has done assignment work for major newspapers: the New York Times, USA Today, Miami Herald, Irish Echo, The Evangelist, Albany Times Union, and, most recently, New York Daily News to name a few. He has been an assignment photographer for major news agencies, United Press International, Reuters, Associated Press, and Catholic News Service." On the Scene: A Life of Photojournalism consists of a "retrospective of works from the highs and lows of state politics and politicians. From Carey to Pataki, the Cuomos and the convicts, John has been there with his camera to capture the moment and personalities. The exhibit is accompanied by the vintage equipment once used to send timely images to the front pages of your morning newspaper." (From http://photocentertroy.org/exhibits-calls/exhibits.html, scrolling down the page for further information.) SAD NEWS Please note that I rely upon the Albany Times Union and input from other alumni for this information, so if you become aware of someone who has passed away, please let me know.
