In this exercise, you will evaluate a national ministry (or department) of a country other than the United States.
You will be able to select the country of your e-government website evaluation within the bounds of distribution across the class as a whole. Moreover, when making your selection you should keep in mind that you must pick a different country for the subsequent internet control case study.
In an email to [email protected] sent by Feb. 9, send a rank ordering of three countries with the corresponding ministry you would like to analyze e.g.:
1. Albania - finance ministry
2. Russia - defense ministry
3. Japan - foreign ministry
Be sure to include your name in the email and "e-gov selection" in the subject line.
Requests will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis working down students' preference orders.
Once the instructor has informed you of which country/ministry you will write about:
Write a 1000 word essay that evaluates the website of that ministry. At what stage of e-government does the website operate? Does the website effectively serve the mission of the ministry? If so, how? If not, why not? Is the website logically organized and easy to use? Does it have any noteworthy features? Integrate hyperlinks to the specific pages that you refer to.
Post essay on your webpage by February 25 and send URL to [email protected]
The instructor will post all URLs to a webpage and students are encourage
to read each other's website reviews.
