Scott's 1988 Mustang LX Coupe

I bought the car in June 2001 almost completely stock. It was originally an AOD with about 112,000 miles when I bought it. I have since added quite a few things to it (the parts are listed at the bottom of the page) over the last six years. The car is very different from when I bought it, and it is in much nicer shape and also a lot faster. It broke the 12 second barrier on October 26, 2006, but I did not take it to the track all of 2007 (not much free time). The car runs flawless, and the only real blemish other than some minor surface rust is that it could use a paint job- the paint is probably about a 5 out of 10 at this point, it appears it hasn't been repainted since new in 1988. It is what is known as a "20 footer"- looks great from 20 feet away, but when you are next to it you can see the imperfections. The only other issues with the car are that at this power level, the transmission is about at it's limits, and there is a small leak of transmission fluid from the case, which leads me to believe the car needs a TKO or better or even a C-4 conversion to upgrade the driveline- it shifts perfect now (but a little notchy), but I think in the future (especially if it's beat on) it will need to be upgraded. The body/chassis now has 132,000 miles on it and has some typical surface rust (under doors, trunk area and the passenger floor area will eventually need to be addressed- last winter I had the drivers side floor pan welded up and painted clean because there was a small rot hole there but it is solid now. The motor has about 12,000 miles and does not use oil. The transmission and all related 5 speed swap parts have less than 5,000 miles on it and was brand new when I put it in two years ago.

Track history (all at Lebanon Valley Dragway, West Lebanon, NY)

June 2004- mid 14's with the stock AOD with 60 ft times between 2.2-2.5.

July 2005- 12.66 @ 108 mph with a 1.98 60 foot time all motor, 5 speed (not me driving- best time with me driving was 13.2 @ 106 mph, 1.96 60 foot).

August 25th 2006- Went 12.38 @ 118 mph with a 2.18 60 foot time with ~8 lbs boost, spinning bad entire track

September 16th 2006- Went 12.33 @ 116 mph with a 1.96 60 foot time (~8-9 lbs boost)

October 26th 2006- Went 11.78 @ 119 mph with a 1.85 60 foot time (~8-9 lbs boost)

I've been told by several people who have ridden in the car and know what the hell they are doing around these cars that it is a high 10 second car, but I've never launched the car higher than 3000 rpms because it still has the stock rear end parts, and therefore the 60 foot times aren't so great. I also have never powershifted the car, since powershifting this car with this power could easily ruin a world class T-5.

(Here is a video of a 12.6 run in July 2006 (and no, that is not the sound my car makes, it's the fart can in the other lane.)

The car has manual windows, no A/C and a tilt wheel (as well as manual locks and a map light).
