We are proud to share the recent accomplishments of our PhD alum, Professor Souvik Banerjee, who is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay.

Professor Banerjee has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Research Excellence Award at IIT Bombay for his outstanding contributions in the field of economics. The awards, established to cultivate a vibrant research culture, are granted to young faculty members at the Assistant and Associate Professor level and span various academic disciplines, including Engineering, Basic Sciences, and Management/Social Sciences. This recognition of Professor Banerjee’s work underscores the quality and impact of his research at IIT Bombay.

Adding to his accolades, Dr. Banerjee has also been invited to join the J-PAL South Asia office as an invited researcher. J-PAL, the global research network dedicated to reducing poverty through randomized control trials, selected Professor Banerjee based on his research portfolio and his work in South Asia. As an invited researcher, he will have the opportunity to independently run randomized evaluation projects through J-PAL South Asia, collaborating with institutional partners in the region.

These significant accomplishments highlight Professor Banerjee’s growing influence in both academic and policy-oriented research. We congratulate him on these honors and look forward to seeing the continued impact of his work.
