The UAlbany Pride Alliance was first founded as the Gay Liberation Front in 1970 once changed to Gay and Lesbian Alliance (GALA) then to its name today.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Concerns (LGBTC) office was established in 1995. In 2006 the LGBT Concerns Office was combined with the Women's Issues Office to form the Gender & Sexuality Concerns Office. Today, the Gender & Sexuality Concerns Office works to make the University At Albany a safe space for those of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Through our programs and events we hope to educate and empower the University at Albany student population around LGBT and Women's issues in order to bring about change and equality to our campus community.
