Republic Records founders/chief executives, and University at Albany alumni Monte Lipman, ’86 and Avery Lipman, ’88, will deliver the keynote address at the 169th Undergraduate Commencement on Sunday, May 19 at 10 a.m. on the Entry Plaza lawn near Collins Circle. -
UAlbany Men's Lacrosse Advances to NCAA Tournament
For the fifth time in program history, UAlbany is the America East Men's Lacrosse champion. The Great Danes scored five consecutive goals to end the first half and got nine points from the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Lyle Thompson, to beat third-seeded UMBC, 19-10, Saturday at Stony Brook's LaValle Stadium. -
UAlbany Sweeps Outdoor Track and Field Championships Again
The UAlbany men and women earned a fifth consecutive sweep of the America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday afternoon at the East Gym Track Complex at Binghamton University. It was also the fifth consecutive championship for the Great Dane women, while the men stretch their record title streak to nine straight years. -
Men's Lacrosse, Men's & Women's Track & Field, take America East Titles
For the fifth time in program history, the University at Albany is America East Men's Lacrosse champion, while the Men's and Women's Track & Field teams swept the America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the fifth consecutive year -- the ninth straight title for the men's team.

UAlbany Thwarted by Denver in NCAA Tournament
Despite a 14-point performance by the Thompson trio, the University at Albany fell to the No. 4 seed Denver, 19-14, on Saturday, May 11 at Peter Barton Stadium in front of 2,621 fans. The Great Danes finish the 2013 season 13-5, while the Pioneers improve to 13-4 and face No. 5 seed North Carolina in the NCAA Quarterfinals. -

Luis “Gabe” Sanchez has been drawn to daunting tasks his entire life. At age 9, he wanted to find the lost continent of Atlantis. At 13, he hoped to contact alien life forms. And now, at age 20, he conducts research to develop alternative ways of tackling the world’s biggest problems, including poverty and environmental disasters.

UAlbany Doctoral Student Paves Way for Family in the Dominican Republic
When Lissette Acosta-Corniel and her mother were struggling to make a new life in the United States, she made a promise to her 10-year-old sister who remained behind in the Dominican Republic, vowing to finish college and finish well. She kept that promise, graduating May 18 with a doctorate from the University at Albany.

UAlbany Professor, Writers Institute Fellow Lydia Davis wins Man Booker International Prize for Fiction
UAlbany English Professor Lydia Davis has won one of the most prestigious awards in all of literature, the fifth Man Booker International Prize for fiction. The $93,000 award is presented every two years to a living author of any nationality for a body of work published in English or widely available in English translation.
