UAlbany Voter Registration Drive is Tops in
SUNY System
More than 2,500 University at Albany
students, the largest number at a State
University of New York campus, registered to
vote during a five-week SUNY-wide voter
registration drive.
The voting drive, conducted on 64 SUNY
campuses, set up a competition to establish
which campus could register the most students.
As the winner, UAlbany will be rewarded with a
concert.
Other campuses where a significant number of
students registered to vote include Buffalo
State, with more than 1,500 students, and Stony
Brook, with about 1,300. New Paltz was close to
1,200.
Across the SUNY system, more than 11,000 students registered to vote. The voting drive was sponsored by United University Professions, New York Public Interest Research Group, New York State United Teachers, SUNY Student Assembly and Rock the Vote.
