Meyer
Releases New Book
Professor Heinz-Dieter Meyer (Department of
Educational Administration and Policy Studies)
has just released his latest book, with
colleague Brian Rowan of the University of
Michigan. Published by SUNY Press,
The New Institutionalism in
Education gives researchers and policy
analysts conceptual tools and empirical
assessments to gauge the possibilities for
institutional innovation. The volume brings
together leading academics to explore the
ongoing changes in K–12 and higher education in
the United States and abroad.
Dozier Writes Responsive
Literacy Coaching
Professor Cheryl Dozier (Department of Reading)
has written a new book, just released by
Stenhouse publishers. In
Responsive Literacy Coaching, Professor
Dozier draws on 24 years of experience as an
elementary classroom teacher and teacher
educator to present both a theoretical framework
and practical tools to enact responsive literacy
coaching. Through thoughtful and purposeful
coaching, teachers learn effective ways to
improve literacy instruction and student
achievement.
Kamberelis
Publishes Theory for Education
Professor George Kamberelis (Department of
Reading) has also just published a new book with
his colleague Greg Dimitriadis at the University
at Buffalo. Theory for
Education provides a concise and clear
introduction to key contemporary theorists,
including their lives, major works, and ideas.
Written for the student in need of a quick
introduction or for the scholar brushing up on
details, this new volume presents major thinkers
whose work and ideas have shaped critical
thinking in our time.
