Distinguished Professor Judith Langer,
Department of Educational Theory and
Practice, recently delivered an invited
lecture on Imaginative Scientists at Lund
University in Lundagård, Sweden.
Virginia A. Goatley, an associate professor in the Department of Reading and associate dean for Professional Studies in the School of Education, has been honored with the 2007 Council Service Award from the New York State Reading Association.
Jeff McLellan, director of the Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA), was recently elected president of the National School Development Council.
Hal Lawson, a professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Policy Studies, the School of Social Welfare, and special assistant to the provost, was recently appointed to the National Advisory Committee of the "Positioning Public Child Welfare Initiative" developed by the National Association of Public Child Welfare Administrators in partnership with Casey Family Programs.
Joan Newman, associate professor of Educational Psychology and Statistics, and Heidi Andrade, visiting assistant professor of Educational and Counseling Psychology had their courses chosen by the governing board of The Honors College to be offered as honors courses next year. Newman's course is Current Issues in Child Development. Andrade's course is Psychological Processes of Schooling.
Christopher Fernando, a graduate of UAlbany's doctoral program in Educational Psychology/Educational and Counseling Psychology and currently Student Support Services coordinator in Academic Support Services, recently received a Chancellor's Award for Excellence.
