ALBANY, N.Y. (December 23, 2005) -- As the January 1, 2006, start date approaches for Medicare Part D prescription coverage, millions of Americans are still in the dark concerning the intricacies of the new program, and which choice will best fit their needs.
Philip McCallion, director of the University at Albany Center for Excellence in Aging Services is an expert on the Medicare D program and is available to answer questions on the program and other challenges society faces in dealing with its elderly. McCallion has been conducting Medicare D educational programs for seniors in upstate New York in conjunction with State providers and the Elder Network of the Capital Region. A professor in the UAlbany School of Social Welfare, McCallion is widely published and is a Hartford Geriatric Social Work Faculty Scholar.
His research and program development activities include:
- Development of more aging prepared
communities through the Elder Network
of the Capital Region
- Evaluating effectiveness of interventions
for persons with dementia
- The development of exemplary
outreach strategies and interventions
- Assisting agencies with direct care workforce development
