Contact: Catherine Herman (518) 437-4980

ALBANY, N.Y. (September 7, 2005) -- The University at Albany's Friends of the Libraries will sponsor a trip to Peebles Island Resource Center on September 21, 2005, for an exclusive tour. The Center, a New York State facility, performs and administers preservation programs for New York's historic sites and 164 parks.

The Resource Center occupies a century-old mill building in a scenic historic site at the confluence of the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers. The artisans who staff the center deal with preservation of objects and artifacts including flags, textiles, paintings, sculptures, documents, ceramics, implements, and fossils.

The Friends' tour will include travel by an air-conditioned bus and tour guides. The bus will depart from the top of Collins Circle (UAlbany's uptown campus) at 1 p.m., and will return by 5 p.m. The cost per person is $22. For further information about parking on campus and to reserve a seat, please contact Ben-Ami Lipetz, 365 Woodward Road, Nassau, NY 12123 (518-766-3014) by September 12, 2005.

The talks are free and open to the public. Membership to the Friends of the Libraries is open to all.
