Lazar Named UAlbany School of Business Executive-in-Residence

ALBANY, N.Y. (February 17, 2006) -- Robert W. Lazar, retired president and CEO of the New York Business Development Corporation (NYBDC), has joined the University at Albany's School of Business as Executive-in-Residence.

Lazar, known for leading NYBDC during an 18-year period of growth until his retirement in 2005, will serve as a resource for students, giving them firsthand insights into corporate business practices. He will also assist faculty on business practice-related topics that arise in teaching and research. Lazar will work closely with School of Business Dean Paul A. Leonard in strengthening the school's relationship with the regional business community. Lazar is a Certified Public Accountant, has a master's degree in accounting from UAlbany, and is a past member of the school's adjunct faculty.

"We are very excited that Bob Lazar will be coming on board at UAlbany's School of Business," said Leonard. "The school is committed to developing closer ties with the Capital District business community. Bob is one the most highly respected business executives in the region and the right person for the job. Bob will also strengthen our academic programs by providing the perspective of a successful business leader."

Lazar is currently a member of numerous boards of directors, including Sterling National Bank in New York City, St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, University at Albany Foundation, Academy of Holy Names High School, and New York Business Development Corporation.
