BS Nursing Completion Program

Are you a licensed or license-eligible registered nurse looking to take your career in health care even further? Invest in your future and your education with a bachelor’s degree in nursing through UAlbany’s RN to BS Nursing completion program. You will expand your professional expertise while gaining a solid foundation in areas of population health including public health, epidemiology and health policy and management.

Note: You will apply to the BS in Nursing completion program as a transfer student. We will evaluate the coursework earned in your nursing associate degree for maximum transfer credit.

RN to BS Nursing Completion Program Admission Requirements
  • An AS or AAS in Nursing from an institution accredited by ACEN, CCNE or CNEA
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Nursing coursework grades of "C+" or better
  • Required courses with grades of "C" or better:
    • Anatomy & Physiology I & II
    • Microbiology
    • Introduction to Psychology
    • Composition I

You must provide proof of a current, unencumbered license as a registered professional nurse in NY by the completion of your first semester.


MS Population Health Nursing

Prepare to address the social determinants of health with UAlbany’s online MS in Population Health Nursing program. 

In this program, you will develop the skills to respond to the health needs of vulnerable populations and communities. Your education will go beyond the classroom, so you'll gain professional experience through immersive clinical learning opportunities in public health and population health settings.  

This program provides you with a path for successful employment in settings such as health departments, community health organizations, occupational health facilities, correctional facilities, schools and other organizations.

MS Population Health Nursing Admission Requirements
  • A BS or pending BS in Nursing (BS, BSN) from an institution accredited by ACEN, CCNE or CNEA
  • GPA of 3.0 or better
  • One college-level course in statistics
  • A current, unencumbered license as a registered professional nurse in the intended state of practice

  • Statement of goals

This program offers an internship, field experience, study abroad component, or clinical experience requirement. Students who have previously been convicted of a felony are advised that their prior criminal history may impede their ability to complete the requirements of certain academic programs and/or to meet licensure requirements for certain professions. If you have concerns about this matter, please contact the Dean’s Office of your intended academic program.

The baccalaureate and master’s degree programs in nursing at the University at Albany are pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Applying for accreditation does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted.
