2000 Race for Literacy

The 2nd annual Race for Literacy, a fast, flat 5K run from Albany
High School to the new UAlbany Library kicks off at 10 a.m. Check-in
at the Dutch Quad parking lot from 7:30 to 9 a.m. All runners
transported from UAlbany to start area at Albany High School.
Volunteers are needed. To volunteer, sign up for the race, or
for more information, call Dennis Kennedy at 437-4956, or visit
www.turaceforliteracy.com. Each runner and volunteer will receive
a commemorative T-shirt. Excellent prizes for various age groups.
Registration fee before Friday Oct. 6: $15; $20 the day of the
race. Proceeds to benefit the Times Union Classroom Enrichment
Program.
Kids Sports
Challenge Following the Race for Literacy, UAlbany
Athletics will host the Kids Sports Challenge. The event will
feature clinics by coaches and student athletes in soccer, lacrosse,
base/softball, and basketball. The clinics take place on the intramural
field, softball field, and tennis courts near Dutch lot. Check-in
begins at 10:30 at Dutch Quad tennis courts, advance registration
required. To sign up, contact Dennis Kennedy at 437-4956. The
event costs $5 and includes a free lunch and T-shirts for participants.
