Frederick Hintermister
About

Fred Hintermister is Visiting Assistant Professor in the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) at University at Albany. He joined the University in 2023.

A leader in cross sector critical infrastructure resilience, he is also the Regional Cybersecurity Coordinator for the National Capitol Region.

Most recently, he has also served in several public and private sector roles, including at North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC/E-ISAC), Secretary of Navy Installations, Energy and Environment, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). He is a recent former Vice Chair, National Council of Information Sharing and Analysis Centers (ISACs). He developed executive and governance oversight level courses in Utilities Failure Management for Educational Environments. He is a recent CEHC Teaching Excellence Awardeed in Cybersecurity.

Mr. Hintermister holds an AA in Letters, Arts and Sciences, and AB in Psychology, an MBA in International Strategy and Marketing and an MS in Science and Technology Commercialization from The Pennsylvania State University (AA), Cornell University (AB, MBA) and University of Texas at Austin (MS), respectively.
