The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) was created under the CARES Act. Since then, there have been two additional appropriations under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), which is also referred to as HEERF II, and the American Rescue Plan (ARP).
CARES Act: The University at Albany has applied for and been allocated $8,031,991 for student emergency purposes related to costs incurred by students due to the disruption of operations due to coronavirus. The University received the same amount in funds in the institutional portion of the allocation.
CRRSAA: The University at Albany was allocated an additional $8,031,991 for student emergency grants with the remainder of the total HEERF allocation of $25,189,865 provided as institutional aid.
ARP: The University at Albany was allocated an additional $22,160,687.00 for student emergency grants with the remainder of the total CRRSAA HEERF allocation of $22,092,414.00 provided as institutional aid.
If you are eligible to receive emergency funds, your E-Pay account is the fastest way to receive these grants.
Set up an E-Refund account on E-Pay to ensure you receive any funding quickly.
E-Refunds allow the University to deposit your refund directly into your savings or checking account, where you’ll be able to access the money as soon as two business days after the transaction appears on your MyUAlbany account.
Only students can set up an account for E-Refunds. Please have your routing number and account number handy when setting up your payment profile. These numbers can be found on your checks and/or banking statements.

Note: The reported student recipient totals are based on awards made and therefore count students more than once if they received multiple awards. Additionally, the reported data includes data on awards that were removed and redistributed if checks were not cashed.
Click the CARES Act, CRRSAA and ARP links for the additional required reporting elements: the acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement; the estimated total number of students at the institution that are eligible to receive emergency grants; Awarding Methodology; and any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the emergency grants.
