About

Jane (Meek) Valinoti is a Professional Development Coordinator for the Center for Public Health Continuing Education (CPHCE) at the University at Albany College of Integrated Health Sciences. She joined CPHCE in July of 2024. Jane earned a Master’s degree in English from the University of Alabama and another Master’s in Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati. She went on to become an award-winning Lecturer of Writing and Rhetoric for the University of Mississippi where she honed her skills in teaching, training, curriculum development, evaluation, and blended learning. Her published research has focused LGBTQ+ youth culture and Queer pedagogy.

She served as the Training Specialist for the LGBTQ+ youth services organization, the Hetrick-Martin Institute in New York, where she trained hundreds of youth workers from many different sectors, including social work, school counseling, public school teaching, state government, and community-based organizations. Her trainings focused specifically on building cultural competency and addressing implicit bias around topics of human sexuality and gender identity. She has also created and facilitated trainings in the healthcare sector focused on health equity for LGBTQ+ people.

Jane also serves as an adjunct faculty at Empire State University in their Interdisciplinary/Multidisciplinary Studies program where she teaches a course called LGBTQ+ Youth in Education.
