This webinar will review the recommendations for health care providers to support breastfeeding/chestfeeding in prenatal settings, including the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and evidence-based strategies in hospital/birthing centers to successfully support the establishment and maintenance of breastfeeding/chestfeeding.

Learning Outcome and Objectives

As a result of attending this training, learners will increase and enhance knowledge and competence on how to articulate culturally appropriate education and practice strategies for supporting breastfeeding/chestfeeding/human milk feeding for pregnant and parenting people in the prenatal period. 

After viewing this presentation participants will be able to: 

  • Summarize national expert recommendations for breastfeeding/chestfeeding. 
  • Explain the benefits of human milk feeding on infant and maternal health. 
  • Describe culturally appropriate, inclusive breastfeeding/chestfeeding education by trimester. 
  • Identify strategies to promote, support, and protect breastfeeding/chestfeeding (including Breastfeeding-Friendly Practices).
