About

Bariscan Yonel joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University at Albany as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2024. He received a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering in June 2015 from Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, in December 2020. From 2021 to 2024, he served as a postdoctoral research associate in the Computational Imaging Group at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
His research interests span the areas of signal processing, optimization, machine learning, and inverse problems in imaging. He focuses on developing theory and computationally efficient algorithms to solve high dimensional inference problems with performance guarantees, and leveraging advances in data science and artificial intelligence to design novel computational sensing and wave-based imaging methods.
