Won Sung Receives Conference Travel Support From Graduate Student Employees Union

Won Sung, who is expected to finish his PhD degree in May 2022, is receiving financial support for his conference presentation from the Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU). He plans to present his research at the 20th International Industrial Organization Conference held in Boston in May 2022.

His research is with Professor Chun-Yu Ho, Professor Gerald Marshcke and PhD alum Gusang Kang. In their research titled "Inventor Mobility and Value Creation in Mergers and Acquisitions," they use a sample of 348 mergers of U.S. manufacturing firms from 1980-2015 and find that an exchange of inventors between firms increases the value of their merging, which increases the merger likelihood.
