Cara L. Fresquez

Cara is a fourth-year student in the Counseling Psychology doctoral program at UAlbany. She earned her Master of Addiction Counseling Psychology (MAC-P) degree from Colorado State University in 2019 before moving to Albany. Cara is passionate about addressing disparities among marginalized populations through service, teaching, research and accessible therapy.  

Cara is currently working on her doctoral dissertation, which focuses on social determinants of health and substance use. Her other research interests include protective behavioral strategies and increasing the quality of life for at-risk populations. 

In her free time, Cara enjoys dog-spotting, bubble baths, dancing, and cuddling her rescue dog, Hank El Oso.
