Gilbert A. Valverde

Dr. Valverde currently serves as Dean and Vice Provost of the Center for International Education and Global Strategy (CIEGS).

Dr. Valverde conducts international research on the politics and political economy of educational quality. He has studied testing, curriculum and standards policy, large scale international tests and STEM education in Latin America, the US and globally.

He is past-president of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) and a Fulbright Senior Specialist. He has worked as advisor, policy analyst and grant recipient with the World Bank, the OECD, the United Nations, universities, think tanks, and ministries of education throughout the Americas.

For his extensive international work, he is the recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Academic Service.
