About
David A. Banks is author of The City Authentic: How the Attention Economy Builds Urban America (2023, University of California Press). It is the first book to explore how our cities gentrify by becoming social media influencers—and why it works. His writing has also appeared in The Guardian, Dwell Magazine, Insider, The Baffler, E-Flux Architecture and elsewhere.
His teaching focuses on urban culture, digital technology, design, international planning cultures, and the finance industry's influence in all of the above.
