- The location of a student is determined by where the student resides as of the first day of classes of the first term/semester in which the student enrolls, regardless of the number of credits.
- The location of a student pursuing an on-campus program will be determined by the local address on file for the student. This includes students who register for fully online courses but are not enrolled in a fully online program, and students who reside on campus.
- The location of a student pursuing a fully online program will be determined by the permanent address on file for the student, unless a local address exists.
- Students must submit address changes via MyUAlbany within 30 days of changing residence. Students who move out of state and who are pursuing a licensure/certification program must inform their academic department of the change within 30 days of leaving New York State. There are federal disclosure requirements with respect to student location for licensure/certification programs. Students can change their address by logging into MyUAlbany, scrolling down to the Personal Information area, and clicking on the Address link. There will be a link labeled Update Address Information and this will open a new window where students can click on the pencil image to edit individual address types.
- This policy refers to physical location of the student and is distinct from residency status for tuition and/or billing purposes. Tuition billing residency is determined by the Student Accounts Office and eligibility requirements are available on their website.
