About the Presentation
With the assistance of institutional theory, we intend to understand how a uniform set of legal provisions and a centralized government influence organizational change in private universities in Bolivia.
We found that, despite the legal settings, private universities exhibit limited coercive isomorphism; what is more, we observe diversity in their organizational structures, enrollment sizes, academic disciplines, and institutional profiles and outcomes.
We intend to explore the dynamics of policy design, enforcement, as well as cultural expectations after six decades of private universities in the Bolivian public sphere.
Presenter: Willy W. Chambi is a Bolivian doctoral student in the Faculty of Education and Social Sciences at Heidelberg University of Education in Germany. He is a Research Assistant in the Program for Research on Private Higher Education (PROPHE) at the University at Albany.
This event is cosponsored by UAlbany's Center for International Education & Global Strategy (CIEGS), Program for Research on Private Higher Education (PROPHE) and Students of Educational Administration for a Change (SEA Change).
