The 2003 Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region

July 8 - November 1, 2003

The Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region is considered the benchmark exhibition for the finest contemporary artists working within a 100-mile radius of the Capital Region. One of the longest running annual juried exhibitions in the country, The Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region rotates among The Albany Institute of History & Art, the Schenectady Museum, and the University Art Museum. This year, it’s the University Art Museum’s turn to host this important event.

The juror is Maura Heffner, the newly appointed Director of Exhibitions and Programs at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art. She is a former assistant curator from the Whitney Museum of American Art where she held numerous positions including coordinator of the 2000 Biennial Exhibition and project director of Mies in America. Ms. Heffner also curated Once Upon a Time: Fiction and Fantasy in Contemporary Art, recently on view at the New York State Museum.

Never disappointing, always challenging, The Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region, highlights the vitality of contemporary art in our regional community. Featuring exciting new work by both recognized artists and new talent, this is one exhibition not to be missed.
