By Amy Geduldig
ALBANY, N.Y. (Nov. 19, 2024) — UAlbany is celebrating the arrival of the winter holidays with its sixth annual Digital Holiday Card Contest. Students are invited to submit art they’ve created to reflect the following themes:
- University at Albany
- Innovation
- Inclusion
- Public Service
- Hopes for the New Year
Artwork can be in the form of drawings, paintings, illustrations, photography, or digital art. The designs should not include imagery specific to any one holiday. All entries must be submitted to the University Winter Greeting Card Design Contest website by 5 p.m. on Dec. 2.
The annual competition was initiated by President Rodríguez in 2018 to establish a holiday tradition that highlights the creativity and artistic abilities of UAlbany students.
The first-place winner’s design will be featured on the University’s holiday card, which will be shared digitally with the campus community, donors and friends of UAlbany. All three finalists will receive scholarships from the University, credited to their student accounts. The first-place winner will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship, while second and third place artists will receive $650 and $350, respectively.
A panel of judges will select three finalists, and their artwork will be revealed at an unveiling ceremony held on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
All UAlbany students in good academic and judicial standing are eligible to submit one entry each via the official entry form. Contest details and the entry form are available on the contest website.
