UAlbany Graduate Schools Receive Top Marks in U.S. News & World Report 2025 Rankings

ALBANY, N.Y. (April 8, 2025) — The University at Albany continues to be recognized for its exceptional graduate schools, earning top marks in the newly released 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings.
Programs featured in the rankings this year include Public Affairs, Library Studies, Public Health, Education, Business, and Engineering, demonstrating UAlbany remains a leader in preparing the next generation of scholars and professionals.

The latest rankings from U. S. News and World Report highlights the commitment of our world-class faculty, the ambition of our students and our deep-rooted mission to advance the public good.”
UAlbany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, which has consistently ranked among the top 30 public affairs schools in the nation, earned the No. 27 spot this year. The College also received high marks in six public affairs specialties:
- 5th in Information and Technology
- 7th in Homeland Security
- 17th in Public Management & Leadership
- 18th in Local Government Management
- 21st in Nonprofit Management
- 31st in Public Policy Analysis
The Information Science program in the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity continues to be recognized in the field of Library Studies and was ranked at No. 29, rising six spots from last year.
The School of Public Health maintained its position at No. 68 among the best public health schools in the nation. Last fall, the program was integrated into the University’s new College of Integrated Health Sciences, which also includes the School of Social Welfare that was ranked last year at No. 43 nationally and second among SUNY schools.
Other programs highlighted in the annual rankings include the School of Education listed at No. 100 and second among SUNY schools; the Massry School of Business was ranked No. 122-133 for its MBA program and also rose 14 spots to No. 143 for its part-time MBA program; and the College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering continues to rise in the fields of Electronic Engineering at No. 101 and Computer Engineering at No. 96, and its Environmental Health program remained in top 100 of the nation’s schools.
Each year, U.S. News ranks a rotating list of graduate school programs based on measures such as expert opinion about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research and students and their post-graduate outcomes. UAlbany is regularly ranked as one of the top public colleges in the nation. The U.S. News 2024 “Best Colleges” rankings, published last October, listed UAlbany at No. 61 nationally among public institutions and No. 121 nationally overall. The University was also recognized by U.S. News as a top performer in social mobility, at No. 31 nationally, up seven spots from last year, and within the top 10 percent of all ranked institutions.
