UAlbany Turns to Local Farmers for Produce
ALBANY, N.Y. (October 30, 2006) -- The University at Albany's 7,400 dormitory-based students have a bit more on their plates this fall -- from local farmers. University Auxiliary Services (UAS), which, through its Chartwells food service, handles the food purchasing and distribution for residence halls and the Campus Center, is doubling their purchases of produce from local farmers for the 2006 semester. ALBANY, N.Y. (October 26, 2006) -- The University at Albany's Center for the Elimination of Minority Health Disparities will host a lecture by researcher Dr. Jos� Calder�n, the director of the Center for Cross Cultural Epidemiologic Studies at the Charles R. Provost Forms Task Force on Acquaintance Rape
ALBANY, N.Y. (October 23, 2006) -- University at Albany Provost Susan Herbst today announced the formation of a Task Force on Acquaintance Rape, to convene immediately. The task force will be led by James A. Anderson, vice president for Student Success, and Katharine Briar-Lawson, dean of the School of Social Welfare, and will include students, faculty and staff from throughout the University and members of the Albany community. Grant from Capital Region chapter to support Education and Awareness to be presented at 5th Annual Conference: Promoting Positive Outcomes for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders
ALBANY, N.Y. (October 16, 2006) -- The NFL Alumni, Inc. Upstate New York Chapter will award the University at Albany's Center for Autism and Related Disabilities a grant to support education and awareness of autism spectrum disorders. The $3,250 grant will be presented during the opening ceremonies of CARD's 5th Annual Conference: Promoting Positive Outcomes for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, held Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center. The pledge was presented by Mike Orsino, president, Capital Region, KeyBank N.A., to Lee McElroy, vice president for athletic administration and director of intercollegiate athletics. Albany High Freshmen Get Glimpse of College Life
Albany High School – UAlbany Alliance for Young Talent visitors' program will kick off Thurs., Oct. 12, 9 .a.m. at University Hall
ALBANY, N.Y. (October 6, 2006) -- Throughout the academic year, the University at Albany will host the freshman class of Albany High School, allowing the younger students opportunities to interact with UAlbany students and receive an early view of the college experience. The University will host groups of 30-40 Albany High freshmen per visit to tour the campus and discuss course selection, studying, socializing, and other aspects of college life with current UAlbany students. Albany High students will visit weekly until the entire class of 900 freshmen have completed the program. More>>
