Matthew Baker received his PhD in the Department of History at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His research explores the cultural history of the late Roman Empire and early and late antique Christianity, with a particular focus on ascetic and monastic practices. His current project examines the fifth-century monastery at Lérins, situated off the coast of modern Cannes, through the lens of ontology.
