Q&A: Why UAlbany's 1-Year MBA Program

Why did you decide to pursue our 1-year MBA program? What interests you about it, or how does it connect to your long-term goals?   

For me, pursuing an MBA was a move that would help strengthen my undergraduate knowledge while opening doors for future opportunities. I knew that I had a lot of raw interpersonal skills that needed refining in a professional capacity, therefore, I had to decide how I was going to improve myself. I knew that I enjoyed networking with people and had dreams of using my skills and knowledge in the business world to market goods and services that appealed to me, so when I was an undergraduate, I would always think about how I could take myself to the next level. When I commenced browsing for schools, I knew I wanted to be in a program that could equip me with the best applicable skills and allow me to be efficient while being an adaptable person in any space. In the long-run I intend to reap from the knowledge sewn, so that I can be successful in my career field with an impactful presence.   Some of my goals are taking on leadership roles in my future employment, contributing to innovative schemes within the marketing field, and helping drive impactful campaigns that can connect with people.

Why did you choose the program at UAlbany more specifically (instead of other schools)? What set it apart? 

The UAlbany MBA program stood out to me, simply because it has an amazing reputation for high-quality education that has high rewards at the end of the journey. The program provides experiential learning opportunities through internships, group projects, and case studies which made it an easy selection. Furthermore, UAlbany is in the capital region of New York. This means that the opportunities to network with local businesses, government agencies and other formidable organizations can be limitless. The possible connection opportunities for future employment and the chance to effectively contribute to the ever-evolving world around me had me sold.

Now that you are in the program, are there any experiences that have reinforced your decision to come here, and made you think “I’m glad I picked UAlbany”?

Now that I am in the middle of my studies, I feel happier and more confident that I made the right decision. The connections that I am currently building in the classroom include classmates from all over the world who have very diverse backgrounds, plus the very knowledgeable and passionate professors. The MBA program has exceeded my expectations, especially when it comes to the group presentations, where I get the chance to collaborate and hone my skills. Graduate school has proven to be an environment that supports applicable real-world topics and discussions. In addition, the program has given me the opportunity to undergo a project  which simulates my desired career path. This project is having use create a marketing strategy to help increase an audience for a venue. This experience has been exceptional as I can apply theoretical concepts in a practical format. It is also teaching me how to work in different group settings while respecting different perspectives and being super effective. Through these experiences, I am pleased to say that I made a solid choice regarding my MBA and my future. Forever Go Great Danes!
