PhD Student's Research Featured in The Economist

We are proud to share that research by Karan Bhasin, a PhD student in our department, has been featured in The Economist. His work, co-authored with Dr. Surjit Bhalla, analyzes recent poverty data in India and challenges conventional development theories. Their findings indicate that extreme poverty in India has dropped to negligible levels, questioning the long-held belief that poverty eradication is dependent on large-scale industrialization.
The article, titled "India has undermined a popular myth about development," highlights the broader implications of their research and contributes to an ongoing global discourse on economic development.
