Peter M. and Barbara J. Pryor
Both together and individually, the Honorable Peter M. and Barbara J. Pryor have worked diligently to influence the Capital Region through public engagement and community activism.
Mr. Pryor served our country with distinction during World War II and, after graduating from Siena College, went on to graduate from Albany Law School. In addition to his distinguished law career, he served in several capacities under Governor Nelson Rockefeller and was a prominent civic and community affairs leader within the City of Albany. The founder of the Albany Urban League and past president and general counsel of the Albany chapter of the NAACP, he is also a trustee emeritus at Siena College and Albany Law School, and regent emeritus for the State University of New York. In recognition of his success and service, he has received numerous awards including an honorary degree from Siena College and the Distinguished Service Award from Albany Law School.
Mrs. Pryor was equally engaged in the Capital Region community, serving as board member of the Capital Region Center for Arts in Education and the Arts Center of the Capital Region. She was a member of UAlbany’s School of Social Welfare Community Advisory Committee and has been a longtime supporter of the school and its initiatives.
Splitting their time between St. Augustine, Florida and Albany, their legacy lives on in their son, Marcus Q. Pryor, who now manages the firm of Peter M. Pryor Associates and is actively engaged in local community affairs.
