Dr. Jeffrey Braunstein is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University at Albany. He comes to us from his previous faculty position at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As a graduate student in 1999, he taught his first university course, Fields and Waves. Since then, he has continued his passion for teaching across a broad spectrum of undergraduate engineering courses, from the introductory course for incoming students through senior level laboratory courses. As an instructor, he has received several awards for his teaching accomplishments, at the department, school, and university levels.
Research
Dr. Braunstein's research focused on numerical computation, modelling microwave heating in resonant chambers. He has investigated solutions to steady state electromagnetic propagation coupled with transient heat diffusion, including temperature dependent material properties. He continued this work with a local company, Ceralink, numerical modelling conventional ovens with microwave assist technology.
