Dey Lab
Research Focus: Non-coding RNAs and epigenetics in skeletal muscle stem cell biology, muscle development, and muscle degenerative diseases. The Dey Lab at the RNA Institute of the State University of New York (SUNY), Albany is looking for a talented and motivated postdoc who will be working on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and American Heart Association (AHA) funded research projects. We study the function of non-coding RNAs and epigenetics in skeletal muscle stem cell biology, muscle development, and muscle degenerative diseases including Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). We use a variety of cutting edge molecular cell biology, stem cell biology, genetic and epigenetic techniques, and relevant mouse models to understand muscle physiology and pathophysiology at the cellular and molecular level. Our aim is to understand the fundamental molecular mechanism of muscle development and to devise innovative therapeutic and diagnostic platforms for DMD and related muscle degenerative diseases. Candidates should hold a PhD in molecular cell biology/developmental biology/ molecular genetics/regenerative medicine/other areas of biomedical sciences and have a strong interest in muscle development and muscle degenerative diseases. Significant experience in molecular cell biology, muscle physiology and mouse genetics is required. Interested candidates should email their CV, the names and contact information of three referees, and a cover letter explaining their interest to [email protected]. The position is available immediately.
The RNA Institute is part of an impressive collaborative network with the departments of Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics at the University at Albany and the Nanobioscience program at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. As a collaborative institution, we do not directly accept graduate students so students looking to pursue Masters or PhD degrees at the RNA Institute should apply directly to the graduate program in one of the following departments:
RNA Institute faculty and research labs span a diverse range of research and disease topics. Specific post-doctoral opportunities can be found here. If you are interested in doing a postdoc in one of these labs you should contact the faculty member directly. We can also keep your CV and cover letter ([email protected]) on file in case a faculty member inquiries about potential postdoctoral candidates.
The RNA Institute and our various research faculty often have the need for regular staff positions such as lab technicians, lab managers, and support staff. If you are interested in joining one of these roles please send your CV and cover letter to [email protected] in case one of our faculty member inquiries about potential staff candidates.
The RNA Institute is always looking for new faculty. Faculty interested in joining the institute can fill out our interest form or email [email protected]
