About

Lourdes Thebaud is the Associate Project Director for the Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) at UAlbany. She previously served as the Director of CSTEP at Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, New York. She was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated with her family to the United States at age five.

After graduating high school, she attended Hudson Valley Community College and The New School of Radio and Television, where she earned an associate’s degree in journalism. Ms. Thebaud then transferred to UAlbany and completed a bachelor's degree in communications.

As an undergraduate, Ms. Thebaud was a member of the Fuerza Latina, served on an executive board of the Tau Sigma Honor Society and studied abroad in Montpellier, France. She also worked for the New York State Legislature, as a bilingual producer on the Senate Media Services team, and for the Office of Assemblyman Peter M. Rivera. While working for the assemblyman, Ms. Thebaud was awarded a Legislative Fellowship in Syktyvkar, Russia.

Ms. Thebaud discovered her passion for working with students while volunteering for the Liberty Partnership Program, which mentors and advises young people as they prepare for college.  She earned her master’s in education administration, with a concentration in higher education, at UAlbany.

In her current role on the CSTEP team, Ms. Thebaud provides underrepresented students interested in the STEM fields with resources critical to their success. She is currently pursuing a PhD in educational policy and leadership at UAlbany, with hopes that her work and leadership will inspire students to become proactive in their own academic journey and act as leaders in their future professional fields.
