Igor Lednev’s research is focused on the use of laser spectroscopy for forensic purposes, medical diagnostics and fundamental biochemistry. His accomplishments include the development of new and innovative approaches for both the identification and characterization of forensic evidence and early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Igor Lednev and his team of student researchers are developing a new, laser-based screening tool that tests blood and saliva to detect early and preclinical Alzheimer’s disease. The Lednev lab has received federal support from the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health to help advance the commercialization of the screening tool, which is currently in the proof-of-concept phase.
