Susan Detwiler is a full-time lecturer for the Writing and Critical Inquiry program.
Educated at Bank Street College of Education, Ms. Detwiler teaches academic writing and thinking. Her approach is driven by students’ inquiry and focused on collaborative, process-based approaches.
As a faculty advisor to the WCI Peer Mentor Program, Ms. Detwiler is particularly interested in how both peer mentors and first-year students deepen their understanding of the inquiry and writing process, as well as how they develop a sense of belonging at UAlbany.
Research Interests: First-year writing, peer education, meta-literacy and its connection to the writing process, first-generation college students
